Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED) is an Egyptian joint stock oil and Gas service provider that offers transportation, storage and handling of both crude oil and petroleum products. Sumed owns and operates two parallel 42 inches pipelines with total length of 320 km each from Ain Sukhna (Gulf of Suez) to Sidi-Kerir (Mediterranean) with huge storage tank farms at both terminals consist of 54 floating roof tanks with a storage capacity of 40 million barrels. Sumed also owns and operates a Petroleum Product Hub and a marine Jetty at Ain Sukhna terminal. That is composed of 3 KM long access trestle with 3 berths to accommodate all different sizes of petroleum product tankers, Natural Gas carriers (LNGCs) and LPG carriers with water depth up to 19 mt. accompanied with onshore/offshore facilities, buffer bullet tanks for LPG handling in addition to Gasoil and Fuel Oil Storage.
Sumed is a focal point connecting Middle East oil producing companies to the west refining centers. The company offers secure fast and outlet to Arab Gulf exports of oil Europe with almost 80% of such Exports transiting SUMED’s pipelines. Shareholders include Egyptian General Petroleum corporation (EGPC) 50%, Saudi Aramco 15%, Kuwait Investment authority- Kuwait Investment Co. – Kuwait Metal Pipes Industries Co. 15% Mubadala 15% and others 5%.
